Nikola AntonijevicStevenson, Volleyball

First, he dominated play on the high school level. Then, he went on to showcase his middle-blocking skills for the U.S. Boys Youth National team. He’s now doing his thing at Pepperdine.

Connor BlackMundelein, Swimmer

He’s just getting started. He brought home two individual medals — 2nd in the 100 fly, 8th in the 200 IM — and two relay medals at last winter’s state meet. This summer, the junior will compete in the U.S. Olympic Trials.

Jeremy BrazilVernon Hills, Wrestling

Known as a terrific club wrestler, he brought home the second-place medal at 285 pounds in last year’s Class 2A state meet. He also was a standout on the Cougars football team.

Craig BreckenridgeLibertyville, Gymnastics

He came up with a momumental performance at State. He took first on floor exercise, second on pommel horse, third on still rings and fifth on parallel bars.

Alex Brend

Lake Zurich, Track

He’s taken his legs to the University of Minnesota. He capped off his prep career by winning the 800 meters (1:52.18) at State last springa.

Jason BrownDeerfield, Tennis

He capped off his junior season with 28 wins by earning a third-place finish in singles in a tough field at the IHSA state tournament.

Robbie BrownDeerfield/HP, Gymnastics

He came up with a clutch performance at State. Brown finished second on the parallel bars (9.40) to help his team to a sixth-place finish.

Joey Calistri

Deerfield, Soccer

The Wizard. Heading to Northwestern, this two-time all-state selection collected 37 goals and eight assists this fall. He had 89 career goals.

Carolina Carmichael

Lake Forest, Track

Bound for the University of Memphis, she cleared 12-3 to take runner-up honors in the pole vault in last year’s state meet. She was third in the event in 2010.

Morgan Dever

Lake Forest, Field Hockey

She’s an elite player in sport. The all-stater, who will play field hockey for Michigan, has been selected to play in the USA Elite Futures games.

Andrea DiPrimaBuffalo Grove, Softball

She topped off her prep career in primo fashion by hitting .495 with 45 hits last spring. Now playing at Northwestern, she wound up with 227 hits for the Bison, which puts her No. 7 all-time in IHSA history.

Lauren FeelyCarmel, Gymnastics

She was beaming after last winter’s State Finals. By taking first on the balance beam (9.775) and third on vault (9.775), she played a major role in helping the Corsairs defend their state championship.

Emily Feldman

Highland Park, Soccer

Thanks to a strong all-state senior season — 21 goals, 5 assists — she ended her prep career with more than 50 goals. She’s off and running at the next level, scoring 20 points this fall for Emory University.

Jason GoldsteinHighland Park, Baseball

He’s been a name player in these parts for some time. The University of Illinois recruit, who will be a four-year starter for the Giants, not only was a tough out (.388 batting average) but he is considered a highly regarded catcher.

Kendall Hirsh

Stevenson, Tennis

A young dynamic duo. Hirsh, a freshman, and Kiven, a sophomore, made Stevenson history in the fall when they came up with a program-best third-place finish in doubles. They helped the Patriots to a third-place team finish.

Marshall Hollingsworth

Libertyville, Soccer

He had another banner season — earning all-state honors — for a team which put together another outstanding season.

Alexis JonesMundelein, Water Polo

She concluded her outstanding prep career by earning all-state honors for the third year in a row. She has taken her game to the Big Ten: Indiana.

Danny Katz

Deerfield, Track

He’s got the skills do a lot of things in a track uniform. He made a name for himself by taking third in the triple jump (45-7 3/4) at State.

Kylie Carlson

Lake Forest, Gymnastics

Her floor exercise routine (2nd place, 9.750) was quite a watch. Her scores helped the Scouts to runner-up honors at State.

Robert KnarMundelein, Boys Hoops

After averaging 20 points per game as a sophomore, this talented guard — a future D-1 player — already has made two all-tournament teams this winter.

Jordan KosCarmel, Football

The Touchdown Maker. The East Suburban Catholic Conference Offensive Player of the Year rushed into the end zone 19 times this fall for the 7-4 Corsairs. He rushed for 1,582 yards.

Igor LiokumovichDeerfield, Track

Now at Harvard, he had a weekend to remember at last spring’s state meet. He placed second in the shot put (62-00 1/4) and third in the discus (181-10).

Karen Lowry

Stevenson, Water Polo

She was a first-team all-state selection. The senior led the Patriots to a runner-up finish at the IHSA state tourney.

Jack Lynn

Lake Zurich, Football

An impact player — on both sides of the ball for the Bears. This three-year starter will concentrate exclusively on defense when he plays in the Big Ten for Minnesota.

Ben Mahar

Mundelein, Baseball

He was just about unhittable last spring. Mahar, who now pitches for ex-major leaguer Tracy Woodson at Valparaiso, allowed only 39 hits in 66 innings. He went 9-1 with a 1.38 ERA.

Chris Marras

Vernon Hills, Baseball

He’s always been a terrific backstop. His bat came alive last spring when he hit .446 with five homers and 43 RBI. He’ll playing at Butler next season.

Megan Mattera

Lake Zurich, Softball

She had that presence on the mound — where she dominated (20-8, 1.63 ERA, 167 Ks). And she also could win a game with her bat: .420, 10 home runs, 32 RBI. She’s taken her game to Miami of Ohio.

Megan MelineVernon Hills, Softball

Can she improve on these numbers this spring? She was a star hurler (19-7 record, 0.99 ERA, 240 Ks, 26 complete games), star hitter (.495, 37 RBI) and star base-runner (37 steals) in 2011.

Kristin MirskiCarmel, Gymnastics

Last year was extra special for this Corsairs standout. She placed first on floor and third on vault for a team which defended its state title.

Isabelle MontagneLake Forest, Field Hockey

Earning honors is nothing new for Montagne. She was honorable mention All-American and second-team all-state in 2011.

Stevenson, Tennis

Last spring, this P & P show managed to dot all the I’s and cross all the T’s at the state tournament. After taking second in 2009, they won it all last spring.

Megan Paul

Carmel, Track

This stellar performer picked up a second-place medal in the 400 meters at last spring’s state meet. She was third in the race the year before.

Erin Purdy

Deerfield, Diving

Talk about upward mobility. This UNC recruit captured the state title in November after placing third and fifth in previous years.

Danny Sabatello

Stevenson, Wrestling

The takedown king. This Patriots star tallied 290 takedowns on his way to winning his second state title last winter. Now competing at Purdue, he finished the season 41-0.

Ryan Sawvell

Mundelein, Boys Hoops

This power forward turned in a stellar season for the 29-win Mustangs last winter. The University of Evansville freshman averaged 20 points and 11 rebounds per game. He came close to blocking 100 shots (95).

Mike Schmidt

Lake Zurich, Bowling

He capped off his sophomore season in splendid fashion by taking runner-up honors at the 2011 state meet in late January. He also has been impressive this winter.

Rachel Stoehr

Lake Forest, Swimming

Stoehr (pronounced star) lived up to her name. The senior, who will be competing at Arkansas next year, claimed a pair of state titles — 200 and 500 freestyles — for the Scouts in November.

Mary StriedlLake Forest, Volleyball

She was the superstar on a super Scouts team this fall (NSC champs, regional champs and 32-match winner). An All-American in club ball, she was credited with 334 kills. She will play at Pitt.

Savannah Trees

Libertyville, Girls Hoops

She followed up a nice junior season with a terrific senior season. Trees, who now plays for DePauw University, starred for a team which just missed 30 wins (29-1).

Owen Williams

Lake Forest, Football

He’s fast in a furious way. Scouts senior rushed for more than 1,000 yards in back-to-back seasons. He was crazy good in several games. He had his six touchdowns (5 rushing) in a win over North Chicago in September. He had three TDS on three touches against Libertyville.

Joe Willis

Lake Forest, Golf

He’s a team-first guy. But he turned in quite the individual performance to win medalist honors at the state golf tournament. His scores helped the Scouts defend their state crown.
