John Emrich of Long Grove doesn’t have a dog running around his yard, he has chickens. Emrich is the owner of Backyard Chicken Run, a company that delivers organic chicken feed to Chicago and suburban residents who raise chickens for the eggs.

The Best Salon and Spa, 139 McHenry Road, Buffalo Grove, is hosting its Sixth Annual “Manicure and Merlot,” a benefit to raise money for The American Cancer Society, 4:40-9:30 p.m. Feb. 13. Report: Illinois teen employment at lowest rate

Teen employment has continued to plummet in Illinois, according to a new report from Northeastern University. The rate dived to 27.5 percent in 2011, the lowest teen employment rate in the 42 years for which data is available. It is down from just under 50 percent in 1999-2000 and from 36 percent in 2007.
