Reverie Dance Academy in Buffalo Grove is celebrating the studio’s second successful year with its Spring Showcase at 6:30 p.m. June 1, in the Lake Zurich Performing Arts Center, part of Lake Zurich High School, 300 Church Street, Lake Zurich. It’s 10 feet tall, solid Corten steel, and it’s “The Guardian,” standing tall out by the communal entryway at the Fisher Container Corp., 1111 Busch Parkway in Buffalo Grove. The sculpture embodies a sinewy gladiator physique and echoes a graceful poetic sensitivity. The chromaticity assimilates a sunrise, sunset of the Grand Canyon, inherited by the weathering live metal of Corten, the raw, as is, bare skin of the sculpture. The sculptor is Ira Sapir, internationally established and multi-faceted artist who works out of his studio in Chicago. On May 16, Special Leisure Services Foundation and the Rotary Club of Buffalo Grove will host the Buffalo Grove Golf Classic fundraiser. Spend the day at The Arboretum Club in Buffalo Grove.
