GRAYSLAKE — The College of Lake County has scheduled a candidate forum for its Board of Trustees race before the April 9 election.

The forum will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. Feb. 6 in Room C005 (C Wing Auditorium) of the Grayslake campus, 19351 W. Washington St. It is being sponsored by the CLC Student Government Association (SGA), the College of Lake County Federation of Teachers Political Action Committee (CLCFT-PAC) and the CLC Black Student Union.

CLC President Jerry Weber will open the forum by providing a brief summary of a trustee’s role. Candidates will then introduce themselves and briefly address the audience. Questions can be submitted by email to clcftpac@gmail.com or given to the moderators. At the end of the event, trustee candidates will informally meet with attendees. A voter registration drive will also be held before Election Day.

Two seats on the board will be contested in the April election.

The six candidates are Philip J. Carrigan (Waukegan), Jeanne Marie Dauray (Round Lake), Darl E. Drummond (Gurnee), John W. Lumber (Ingleside), James Creighton Mitchell, Jr. (Lindenhurst) and Barbara D. Oilschlager (Grayslake). The term of office is six years, and the positions up for election are currently held by Lumber and Oilschlager.

The college is governed by a seven-member board of trustees, elected from among the citizens of Community College District 532, to ensure local accountability. More information about the CLC board is available at www.clcillinois.edu/aboutclc/trustees.asp.

Candidates have been invited to submit answers to a questionnaire, and their responses can be viewed at www.voteclc.org. For more information about the forum, contact the SGA at (847) 543-2280.
