BUFFALO GROVE — Saint Mary School in Buffalo Grove congratulates its seventh-grade students who participated in the school’s Science Fair on Dec. 14.
The effort was assisted by more than 50 volunteers from St. Mary parish and the community, who helped judge the event. School officials reported that it was a huge success.
According to the school’s news release, the science fair is designed to inspire the students in scientific endeavors while encouraging them to give back to the community. The participation and interaction of the judges with the students set a wonderful example of giving back, school officials said. The students also shared their appreciation for all those who took time to share their talents in the judging process.
The students went through a rigorous judging process based on three categories: Scientific method, oral presentation and display. Each of the categories had three or four sub categories for judging.
The students are now preparing for the Regional Competition. The Regional IJAS (Illinois Junior Academy of Science Regional Competition) is held March 9 at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago.
Saint Mary School also sent a special thank you to Ron Lewis for all his time and dedication helping the children prepare for the event.
“The children have learned so much about the wonderful world of science,” the school news release stated.
