Sente congratulates local scholars
State Rep. Carol Sente has recognized 429 local high school students selected as 2012-2013 Illinois State Scholars by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission. Selected students represent a variety of 59th district communities, including Buffalo Grove, Deerfield, Gurnee, Indian Creek, Lake Bluff, Lake Forest, Libertyville, Lincolnshire, Long Grove, Mundelein, Northbrook, Park City, Riverwoods, Vernon Hills, Waukegan, and Wheeling.
According to ISAC, Illinois State Scholar winners rank in the top 10 percent of high school seniors from 773 different high schools across the state. Selection is based on SAT, ACT and/or Prairie State Achievement Exam scores, and/or class rank at the end of the junior year. High school guidance counselors work in conjunction with ISAC to determine the winners.
In addition to a congratulatory letter, certificate of achievement and statewide recognition, Illinois State Scholars are encouraged to cite the honor when applying for college admissions and scholarships.
