Four candidates seek three seats on Vernon Library Board

There will be a contested race for the Vernon Area Public Library Board, where four candidates — Jonathan Passman of Buffalo Grove, George Goldstein of Lincolnshire, Edward Kogan of Vernon Hills and William Apostolakis of Long Grove — will vie for three seats, with terms of six years each.

The Library also will have two other new faces joining the Board: Ed Acuna of Long Grove is the only candidate for a four-year seat, and Kim Smith of Long Grove is the only candidate for a two-year seat. Both positions were created by a pair of resignations in 2012.

The new group will oversee an operating budget of $7.9 million for 2012-13.
