Wine tasting event to benefit Buffalo Grove Rotary

LONG GROVE — Long Grove’s Sunset Foods grocery store will host a wine-tasting fund-raiser Nov. 13 for the Buffalo Grove Rotary Club.
The Rotary Wine Tasting Gala will begin at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 13 at Sunset Foods, 4190 state Route 83. Tickets are available early at www.BGRotary.org for $40, and will be $50 at the door.
Ticket holders also will be entered into a raffle for a wine package valued at more than $500, which includes one bottle of each of the featured tasting wines, wine glasses, a carafe and more. Dozens of wines and appetizers prepared fresh in Sunset’s kitchen will be served.
Participants can keep their glasses, and special prices will be available for both bottles and cases. The event also will include a silent auction with items from the sporting and pop worlds, as well as wine paraphernalia.
The dress code is casual.
Rotary International sponsors the largest youth exchange program in the world and promotes world peace and understanding on a person-to-person basis. Currently, a Rotary exchange student from Slovakia attends Stevenson High School and a Chilean student attends Buffalo Grove High School. Additionally, a Stevenson student is studying this school year in France and a BGHS student is attending school in Argentina.
Rotary is the world’s first and largest service organization, whose members form a global network of business, professional, and community leaders who volunteer their time and talents to serve their communities and the world. Rotarians focus on ‘Service above Self’ as a commitment toward bettering the world around them. Rotary International is working to eradicate polio, end poverty, and promote world peace and cultural understanding.
The Buffalo Grove Rotary group supports many local charities and community initiatives including hunger relief, safety programs, Special Olympics, park improvements, school programs, and student exchanges. Beyond its local efforts, its members have traveled to global service projects that include providing fresh water in Africa, immunization efforts to eradicate polio in India and development projects for schools in the Guatemalan jungle. ~.
