Health care panel discussion set for Sept. 11 in Lincolnshire
LINCOLNSHIRE — Local Democrats have organized a discussion with a panel of health care experts to share their insight on President Barack Obama’s health care reform act.
The Illinois Tenth Congressional District Democrats will present “What does it Mean for Me?” at 7 p.m. Sept. 11 at UAW’s Region 4 headquarters, 680 Barclay Blvd., in Lincolnshire.
The scheduled speakers include:
• Dr. Ram Krishnamoorthi, MD, MPH, who is the Illinois representative to Doctors for America, a nonprofit group of physicians and medical students dedicated to advocating for affordable access to quality health care for all Americans. He also is the clinical director of medicine at Loyola University Chicago’s Stritch School of Medicine and is affiliated with Edward Hines Jr. Veterans’ Hospital.
• Michael L. Millenson, president of Health Quality Advisors, LLC, and a nationally recognized expert on quality of care improvement and patient-centered health care delivery. He is also the Mervin Shalowitz M.D. Visiting Scholar at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, and author of the critically acclaimed book, Demanding Medical Excellence: Doctors and Accountability in the Information Age.
• Jillian Phillips, the Chicago area organizer for the Campaign for Better Healthcare, the largest health care advocacy coalition working in Illinois. Since 1989, CBHC has been a leader in advancing comprehensive health reform at the state level in Illinois.
