The BP gas stations at 540 McHenry Road and 201 N. Milwaukee Avenue in Buffalo Grove were posted on BP’s list of stations that sold tainted gasoline.
According to the BP searchable database, the Buffalo Grove retail sites received “off-specification gasoline” related to a problem with BP’s Whiting, Ind., refinery.
BP has posted a searchable database for consumers who want to check whether gas stations they use had tainted gasoline.
To check a station, type in the name of a city into the BP website and the database will list the addresses of the retail sites that received tainted gasoline.
Each location in question was “instructed to immediately stop selling the off-spec fuel and to properly clean out their tanks and dispose of the material,” the BP website states.
The company also stated that the problem has been addressed.
Not all cars fueled with off-specification gas will display adverse symptoms, BP stated, but if a car experiences “hard starting, rough idling, stalling, or other drivability issues, please have your car towed to a repair shop to be checked out and call 1-800-333-3991 or 1-800-599-9040 to make a claim.”~.
