Blood drive set for Thursday in Buffalo Grove

The Buffalo Grove Fire Department will hold a blood drive from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday (Aug. 23) at its headquarters, 1051 Highland Grove Drive.

Each donor will receive a free barbecue meal and a commemorative T-shirt.

The blood drive is part of a combined effort among numerous Lake County fire departments to benefit LifeSource, the Chicago area’s largest blood center. LifeSource’s lowest times for donations are during the holidays and the summer.

LifeSource averages about 500,000 blood donors every year.

Donations must be made by appointment. To schedule, call LifeSource at (877) 543-3768 or call the Fire Department at (847) 537-0995.
