The Kiwanis Club of Evanston’s 12th annual Golf Outing held June 29 at the Glencoe Golf Club was weatherproof. While temperatures were flirting with 90+ degrees, the early morning start was cool and pleasant. The golfers got off in good fashion and were there in force to support the Evanston School of Wrestling program and Beat the Streets, a national youth wrestling program. A sudden thunderstorm gave the golfers a break and time was filled with lunch and a spirited raffle before the stalwarts went back out on the course.
Sixty-five golfers and guests raised over $4,000 for various Kiwanis Foundation programs, including scholarships for kids from age 6 to grade 8 who are enrolled in the ESW program. Students learn the fundamentals of wrestling as well as leadership and team concepts. Outing chair, Chris Livatino, the director of athletics at Evanston Township High School, praised the golfers, sponsors and Kiwanis members for their dedication to funding positive programs for children and youth.
