Sex toy business card, late night call prompt Buffalo Grove president to report former trustee

BUFFALO GROVE — Village President Jeff Braiman notified police Jan. 13 of “escalating” issues with former Village Trustee Lisa Stone.
According to a police report, Braiman told officers that the issues relate to Stone’s sex toy business and her calling him in the middle of the night.
Braiman told Buffalo Grove police that about two weeks ago Stone visited his Arlington Heights law office.
“Stone wanted to give her business card for her sex toy business,” said Braiman, according to the report.
Stone allegedly followed that encounter with a phone call to Braiman’s home at 2:36 a.m. Jan. 13. According to the report, Braiman’s wife, Sue, picked up the phone and concluded the call quickly when she realized who was on the other end.
“Mrs. Braiman said to Stone, ‘How dare you call, go to hell,’ and hung up the phone,” the report states.
Reached by phone Tuesday, Stone confirmed the report’s account.
“Yes, of course I did,” she said, referencing the late night phone call. “I called Braiman to say the (village) website wasn’t working again.”
According to the report, “Ms. Stone advised that she called Mr. Braiman because the village website was not working and, because he is an elected official, he should be available in an emergency.
“Ms. Stone went on to explain many issues she has with Mr. Braiman and the village,” the report continues.
The lingering issues stem from Stone’s time as a trustee on the Village Board from 2009 to 2010. In a year and a half on the Village Board, Stone’s disruptive behavior during meetings made her so unpopular that she is now believed to be the first municipal-level elected official in state history to be yanked out of office by a recall referendum. Residents voted to recall her from office in November 2010.
Since then, Stone has been an occasional visitor to board meetings, speaking about environmental and political corruption concerns, which often resulted in shouting matches with Braiman.
According to the police report, Braiman told officers that he wanted to sign a criminal complaint against Stone. ~.
