BUFFALO GROVE — Hanukkah begins Dec. 8, and Buffalo Grove congregations have planned several observances and activities for the community.

The Hanukkah Family Funland returns to the Buffalo Grove Town Center for four days in December. Organized by the Suburban Alliance for Jewish Education, the event will include a carnival, music, food court, raffles, a cartoonist and more.

Family Land’s dates and hours:

• Noon to 5 p.m. Dec. 9

• 1 to 5 p.m. Dec. 13

• 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dec. 16

• Noon to 5 p.m. Dec. 25

Adults are free; children ages 2-16 are $8 in advance or $10 at the door. Four or more children receive the package deal: $30 in advance or $36 at the door. Advance tickets can be purchased at www.HanukkahFamilyFunland.com or (224) 534-9613.

At Congregation Beth Am, 225 N. McHenry Road, the public is invited to a Hanukkah service at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 14. Families are welcome to bring their menorahs as the congregation will have tables set up, and worshippers will be able to light their candles together.

During the service, Beth Am’s junior choir will sing, and officiants will give birthday blessings to everyone born in December.

A special Hanukkah party will follow the service, with dreidels and assorted activities for children.

Officials at numerous other local synagogues said they are planning congregational events and observances for their memberships.
