BUFFALO GROVE — Veterans Day will be marked in Buffalo Grove by a pair of ceremonies.
The students of Cooper Middle School will begin the weekend with a musical performance at 9 a.m. Friday in Cobra Gymnasium, 1050 Plum Grove Circle. The event will feature student musicians, bagpipers, a police and fire department honor guard and posting of the colors by Boy and Girl Scouts. Local nursing home residents are scheduled to attend, and students will create “thank you for your service” cards to be presented to attending veterans.
The Buffalo Grove Park District will put on another program at 3 p.m. Sunday at Buffalo Grove High School, 1100 W. Dundee Road. Past and present service members are invited to be recognized.
A third event is not open to the public, but will raise money to assist veterans’ issues. BGHS’ Dance Marathon will take place Friday night, with the proceeds from student fund-raising going to Salute, Inc., a nonprofit based in Palatine that serves military members who have returned home.
