A short chase through Buffalo Grove and Wheeling ended with a man’s arrested Jan. 31.
Buffalo Grove police were patrolling at about 11:45 p.m. near the intersection of Milwaukee Avenue and Lake Cook Road, and saw a black Volkswagen Jetta allegedly speeding at 63 mph in a 45-mph zone. Police said they attempted to pull the driver over, who complied after a short time.
Police reportedly found Miguel Angel Laguna, 28, of 906 Wheeling Road in Mount Prospect behind the wheel. Police said the officer told Laguna to get out of the car, but Laguna allegedly drove away instead.
The Buffalo Grove officer lost the car, but Wheeling police found and pursued it. According to the police report, Laguna led Wheeling officers down a dead-end street, then fled on foot for a short time before being captured.
Buffalo Grove charged Laguna with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol, felony driving without a license, having no insurance, fleeing police, speeding and having open alcohol. He also reportedly had arrest warrants in both Cook and Lake counties.
He was scheduled to appear in Rolling Meadows court on an unlisted date.
